I miss my toys.

I was wandering around AC Moore yesterday (I needed black dye to dye the lovely linen twill I'm making G some fighting chausses out of. White just doesn't seem like a good idea for fighting stuff), and for some reason, they have lots of kid toys. Dunno why, but they had PlayDo, and BIG boxes of Crayolas on prominant display... probably trying to help out all the parents of bored children home from school.

Mmm... brand new 96-color boxes of Crayolas. Not only do they smell good, but new crayons are ALWAYS the best - because no matter what the box says about the sharpener on the side, it's *not* the same.
Pity all the coloring books are of Disney stuff...

Maybe I should just get one of these...

Dude, Etch-A-Sketch on a cell! How fun would *that* be?!?

Also, I share your nostalgia for Crayolas. I have a coloring book of Early 20th Century Women's Fashion that I have been saving for just the right set of Crayolas or colored pencils.

I've been looking, however, for about three years. Who knows when my flappers will have color?

Ah, the smell....

I was standing in Staples this morning looking at brand new boxes of crayons and thinking exactly the same thing! New ones ARE better than sharpened ones.
Ah, and the scent of newly minted crayons.

Heaven!

Talking Crayons makes me think about my GI Joes. I has a bunch of them but I only had the one girl joe and she was the girl who's skin changed in sun light. Zarana was her name I think. I always wanted Scarlet and Jade but I could never find them. I wonder if they would have made it under my father's gender radar. Ooops. I lied I had the little ninja girl Jinx too but she wore a hood all the time so you could hardly tell it was a girl. Never was allowed to play with Barbies or any kind of "girl" toy so I guess I had to make due with the girlie Joes. I think Im going to go out and get myself a barbie. I missed out on that part of my childhood and I feel like Im due for some impossible standards that will ruin my self image....Or maybe I'll try to track down Scarlet and Jade instead. lol

Something funny...I still have my old set of 64 crayons from 1988! They have the old color crayons that they have changed the names for since then. :) I used to have an etch-a-sketch when I was little. Ah, the wonder years.
