I'm rather curious, though I suppose asking for random ideas defeats the purpose of the 'one word resolution'. Still... there are zillions of people posting this, and someone on my friends list might have a fabulous idea.

Please share something you think I should do or try to do in 2008. Big or small, silly or earth-changing.

I may do it, I may not. I'm open to ideas.

OOH OOH! PICK ME!!

1) Finish that lovely hand-sewn dress you were making for Coronation. It is not a failure. The quality just turned out to be higher than you expected. :> You spent way too long on that embroidery not to finish it. That fabric deserves better than to sit unloved in your closet. It'll be hard to force yourself to do it, but Remember your Word.

2) Go to the gym with me. You can lift weights or go to classes (they have a muscle pump class), and we can meet in the sauna and dish like we used to. :> I've got all kinds of times circled on my schedule.

3) help Nick carry bags one day that he's feeling tired. It'll make him all melty.

4) Make more ink. Or at least help me make more ink.

5) meatballsmeatballsmeatballsmeatballsmeatballsmeatballs...

6) Let's see.. I've gotten big, small, silly,. ..earth-changing! Start recycling. Get a couple of recycling bins and start separating glass, aluminum, and paper.

Or, for an alternate recycling suggestion, have nick make more beer, and use recycled bottles! I'll be happy to help empty them over and over again.

(1) is already a goal, and so is "cooking more" which takes care of (5)... (3) is cute, and I'll think about it, (4) just pick a day, it's really easy,(6) is a LOVELY idea but I SO don't have space (though the beer part I'm sure will happen) and (2) would be Quite Fun, except I canceled my membership.

Hmmm.
I'd suggest trying to clean up your house more throughly, or at least pick your least favorite aspect of mess and make a habit of correcting it.

Yeah. The trick, really, is too much stuff in too small a place, and I haven't figured out how to fix that - I tease you about the dragon hoard but that's pretty silly considering we have about 4, maybe 6 people worth of stuff.

Still, having [livejournal.com profile] bzzyb do some of the cleaning has helped, and is sort of inspiring in terms of ok, if I can organize it, it'll magically get cleaned while I'm not there...

Suggestion

Write up for yourself what one day in your persona's life would be like...

Hrm, ok THAT might feed into [livejournal.com profile] isenglass's suggestion...

Write an article for the Oak.

As an addendum to that...

Submit any previously printed articles printed in the Oak to some local newsletter out-Kingdom!

For my own suggestion, pick a day of the month to have a colour-themed dinner. Have everything be one specific colour by the time it's plated.

How would you suggest picking that out-kingdom newsletter? (I can definitely understand the appeal of that one, having recently taken over as Baronial Chronicler for my barony.

Color themed? hmm...

How would I suggest picking one? Either skim through the list on sca.org, picking something that sounds neat, or take that list and pick one at random by whatever means you prefer.

Good idea. The trick on that, for me, is always thinking of something small and interesting, rather than something that morphs into a huge Project. Focus, right?

Last year I kept a Google docs spreadsheet of what town we were in and a *brief* line of what we did every weekend for 2007. For 2008, I'm expanding it to be a mini-journal of what I did every day. I really like looking over 2007's when I wonder where the year went, so I'm excited about having 365 366 lines instead of 53 (that's the way the year worked out). Highly recommended!

I sort of started that with the morale-o-meter (if you haven't seen it, check my profile, I don't have the link handy - it has a notes section for anything interesting, in addition to the sleep/caffeine/alcohol/morale ratings...
